SUMMARY:Junior High Tenor Bass Festival
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the Junior High Tenor Bass Festival is to give male 5th-8th grade singers an opportunity to experience singing in high school. Students who have changed and unchanged voices are encouraged to participate. There is a place for all tenors\, basses\, and cambiata (“super tenors”). Students will receive instruction customized to suit the needs of emerging and future tenor and bass voices. Students will sing along with the high school singers and through the repertoire and choral experience will develop confidence in their voice\, joy in singing\, and motivation to continue singing at the middle school and high school levels. \nStudents will enjoy singing some of the favorites in the male vocal repertoire and with an ensemble of over 30 high school singers. This year the group will sing a spiritual Hush\, an operetta piece; Stout Hearted Men\, a folk tune; 900 Miles; and a 60’s rock n’ roll piece\, Runaround Sue. \nThe cost of participation is $10 per student which goes toward the cost of a pizza dinner and offsets the price of music. When you register\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include links to of all the music for the concert and practice tracks. Registration will be available soon. \nPreparation: Students are encouraged to review their music ahead of time using the practice tracks created and provided by students in the Marmion Men’s Chorus. After registering for the event\, you will receive practice materials in the confirmation email. \nAttire: Students should wear comfortable clothing that they can move in (long pants and a t-shirt). \nSchedule:\n12:30 – Sign in/registration – enter through Door #1. SUMMARY:Honor Band Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Junior High School Honor Band has been held on the campus of Marmion Academy for over 24 years. The purpose of the Honor Band is to give Junior High School band students the opportunity to rehearse and then perform a concert. Music is specifically selected to include a march\, a patriotic tune\, a work that includes 6/8 time\, a work from popular culture\, and a composition from the standard band repertoire for junior high school grade level 4. \nQualifications for performing in the honor band is proficiency on a woodwind\, brass or percussion instrument. We also have an option for students who perform on upright string bass. The honor band is open to students in grades 6-8. 5th graders may participate with a note from their band director or private lesson instructor certifying his/her proficiency. \nTO SIGN UP: Fill out the form below. The cost of participation is $12 per student which goes toward the cost of a pizza dinner and offsets the price of music. With over 4\,200 patrons attending the show on Thanksgiving weekend\, visiting the show has become a family tradition. Each year the Craft Show is well-publicized throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.\n\nCrafter Qualifications: An element of your craft must be handmade to gain entry into the show as a crafter. When completing the Application\, please be sure to include no more than four pictures of your work. This is mandatory as it assists the jurors in the process of selecting crafts for the show.\n\nVendor Qualifications: There will only be one franchise per type of item and all vendor booths will be housed in the Alumni Hall gymnasium.\n\nStatus and Payment Information:\nNew crafters (first time applying for our Craft Show) can expect to hear from our committee about acceptances or declines at the end of August or early September 2025. With over 4\,200 patrons attending the show on Thanksgiving weekend\, visiting the show has become a family tradition. Each year the Craft Show is well-publicized throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.\n\nCrafter Qualifications: An element of your craft must be handmade to gain entry into the show as a crafter. When completing the Application\, please be sure to include no more than four pictures of your work. This is mandatory as it assists the jurors in the process of selecting crafts for the show.\n\nVendor Qualifications: There will only be one franchise per type of item and all vendor booths will be housed in the Alumni Hall gymnasium.\n\nStatus and Payment Information:\nNew crafters (first time applying for our Craft Show) can expect to hear from our committee about acceptances or declines at the end of August or early September 2025. We appreciate your patience!\n\nPLEASE NOTE: All payments will go through our website\, marmion.org. We do NOT ask for payments through emails from officialeventsbooking@gmail.com – this is a scam so please do not give your information. We do not ask for any paypal\, zelle\, or facebook payments either!
