Marmion Academy Students Recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC)

Marmion Academy is pleased to announce that seniors, Evan Jarot and Samuel Schatteman, have been named Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. Jarot is the son of Diana Law and Chris Jarot of Geneva. Schatteman is the son of Drs. Matthew and Alicia Schatteman of Sugar Grove.

Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test (PSAT/NMSQT). Although they will not continue in the 2026 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students place among the top 50,000 of all high school students who entered the competition.

“Evan and Samuel have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource. Recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role Marmion Academy plays in in their academic development, is vital to the advancement if educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
