Junior High Tenor Bass Festival

The purpose of the Junior High Tenor Bass Festival is to give male 5th-8th grade singers an opportunity to experience singing in high school. Students who have changed and unchanged voices are encouraged to participate. There is a place for all tenors, basses, and cambiata (“super tenors”). Students will receive instruction customized to suit the needs of emerging and future tenor and bass voices. Students will sing along with the high school singers and through the repertoire and choral experience will develop confidence in their voice, joy in singing, and motivation to continue singing at the middle school and high school levels.
Students will enjoy singing some of the favorites in the male vocal repertoire and with an ensemble of over 30 high school singers. This year the group will sing a spiritual Hush, an operetta piece; Stout Hearted Men, a folk tune; 900 Miles; and a 60’s rock n’ roll piece, Runaround Sue.
The cost of participation is $10 per student which goes toward the cost of a pizza dinner and offsets the price of music. When you register, you will receive a confirmation email that will include links to of all the music for the concert and practice tracks. Registration will be available soon.
Preparation: Students are encouraged to review their music ahead of time using the practice tracks created and provided by students in the Marmion Men’s Chorus. After registering for the event, you will receive practice materials in the confirmation email.
Attire: Students should wear comfortable clothing that they can move in (long pants and a t-shirt).
