The Junior High School Honor Band has been held on the campus of Marmion Academy for over 24 years. The purpose of the Honor Band is to give Junior High School band students the opportunity to rehearse and then perform a concert. Music is specifically selected to include a march, a patriotic tune, a work that includes 6/8 time, a work from popular culture, and a composition from the standard band repertoire for junior high school grade level 4.

Qualifications for performing in the honor band is proficiency on a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. We also have an option for students who perform on upright string bass. The honor band is open to students in grades 6-8. 5th graders may participate with a note from their band director or private lesson instructor certifying his/her proficiency.

TO SIGN UP: Fill out the form below. The cost of participation is $12 per student which goes toward the cost of a pizza dinner and offsets the price of music. Within 24 hours of signing up to participate, you will receive a confirmation email, along with a pdf attachment of all the music for the concert.

Here is the schedule for Honor Band Day, Sunday, January 18, 2026:
Please bring your instrument*, music, and a pencil.

1:15 PM – Sign-in/registration in the Regole Field House foyer (enter through door #7)
1:30 PM – Rehearsal begins with Mr. Rosas in Alumni Hall Gymnasium
2:20 PM – Break (move to sectional rooms)
2:30 PM – Sectionals with members of the Marmion Rosary Band
3:45 PM – Break (move back to Alumni Hall for full rehearsal)
4:00 PM – Full Band rehearsal
5:05 PM – Final announcements, rehearsal wrap up
5:15 PM – Pizza dinner in the cafeteria
5:45 PM – CONCERT TIME!
6:15 PM – Approximate concert end
*Percussionists: Please bring your snare sticks or keyboard mallets depending on what instrument you signed up for at registration. We will provide the percussion instruments.

ATTIRE:

Boys – dark pants, white shirt, dark socks, dress shoes and tie
Girls – long dress or pants suit, dark hose, discrete jewelry
